Abstinence Only, Except for Me

Today Bodhi will mix the personal and the political. Britney Spears' 16-year-old sister is pregnant, and plans to keep the baby. Hilariously, this teenager with child is urging other girls not to engage in premarital sex. Lil' Jamie Lynn says, "I definitely don't think it's something you should do; it's better to wait." Or, if you do engage in premarital sex, howz about you use birth control?
The Centers for Disease Control reported last week that the teenage pregnancy rate in the United States is on the rise, after fourteen years of decline. Is it a coincidence that the Bush administration has been requiring schools to teach "abstinence only" education in order to get federal funding? Bodhi thinks lil' Jamie Lynn is the perfect example of why this doesn't work. She believes in saving herself for marriage, except for when she's having unprotected sex with her boyfriend. Does anyone really think a baby raised by two teenagers in Louisiana is a good thing?
Oh, and Bodhi seems to recall that Jamie Lynn's big sis was all about saving herself for marriage. And we all know how that turned out.
